Cisco Champion, who dis?

Let’s refresh, shall we?  In the end of 2020, I had just passed the CWNA and was on my way to wireless knowledge bliss.  I took a short break….like a month with the full intention of moving on to the next wireless certification.  It took more like two months, but I did study for the CWDP over the Christmas break for two weeks. Having had experience with ESCE-Design and doing wireless design as part of my day to day role, this exam went down easily.  As the year progressed, I found myself busier than I had ever been and it was easy to ignore the blog after putting so much energy into the CWNA content.  Shameless plug, if you have interest in passing the CWNA, I would read this post.  Fast forward to September of 2021,  I received a notification from Cisco that I had been chosen as a Cisco Champion for 2021.  This was an honor I had not been expecting but was greatly appreciated.

Cisco Champion 2021

Cisco IT Blog Awards nominee too?

As if Cisco Champion wasn’t enough, the beginning of 2022 started with an email from Cisco saying that I had been chosen as an IT Blog Awards finalist.  WHAT!!!  If you look through the list of nominated blogs, you can’t help but feel like you are breathing rarefied air.  It is an honor to be listed among people I look up to, who produce content I consume.  If you find my content useful, please take a moment and vote.  You can vote more than once so  please show the content creators the work they put in is appreciated with a few moments of your time.

So, what now?

Today starts a new chapter in which I try to create more content for the blog in both an educational capacity as well as some lighter content.  I feel the reason in which I slid away from the blogging is the immense time it took for each post.  In the beginning I was reviewing complete chapters from the CWNA as I studied, so that shouldn’t be an issue going forward.  During my hiatus, I have been keeping notes on ideas I would like to blog about, so I will focus on putting some of those out in the near future, time permitting.  Some of those ideas may or may not be related specifically to WiFi but will be things I use in my day-to-day role as a wireless engineer.

Final Thoughts

Over the past year, we have dealt with quite a lot as a country with COVID-19, which caused uncertainty with our health, employment, travel and economy.  The stressors felt by my family were great.  There was a period of time in which I thought it was possible that my employment might be in jeopardy due to the financial impacts my company was feeling as all of our clients were pausing their projects.  I want to publicly thank Presidio for finding a way to keep people whole during this time as well as for making concessions for me while my family is going through some medical issues (non-Covid related).  It is very much appreciated.  My final thought would be to ask all of you to give blood at your local blood banks/mobile units.  Until recently, I gave blood as something that was good to do for humanity.  Recently I came to understand on a much deeper level how important that really is.  Thank you in advance!
