Are you unorganized? You need a cable organizer!

Let’s face it, as network folks we carry a lot of junk in our bags.  Some of it we pretend we use everyday and won’t take it out of our bag, you know, “Just in case”.  Other items we use every day as if our lives depend on it.  To say this doesn’t describe me would be a lie.  When I am traveling to client sites, which I do often, I never want to arrive unprepared.  If there is the slightest chance I am going to need something, I bring it with me.  It used to be I had three or four pouches filled with random things.  I had no idea what was where, and it would take me awhile to find something.  There were times when I would look for a cable, not find it, only to find out it was in there but I overlooked it.  I could call it semi-organized, but my OCD said that was a lie.  See below to understand how I like things to be when it comes to my closets.  Even looking back at these pictures now, there are things I would fix.

Enter the cable organizer 3000

Okay, so it isn’t called the Cable Organizer 3000, but it sounds cool.  Honestly telling anyone I am rocking the Jelly Comb Electronic Accessories Cable Organizer Bag, seems excessive.  But I digress, this bag is amazing.  When I started Amazon surfing looking for a cable organizer for my backpack, I didn’t expect to find something like this.  It truly allowed me to consolidate all my various pouches into one and then some.  Below is a picture of all the items that now reside in this case.

We have all the adapters for my MacBook, every type of USB cable, multiple USB drives, console cables of a couple types, MacBook charger block, another usb-c charger block for portable battery, an Anker battery pack, Insten USB Hub for wifi console using WLAN Pi, a WLANPi, and some random tools.  The total thickness with all of this in there is around 4″.  So what does all this look like packed in?  Check it out!

Final Thoughts

Knowing I can go into my bag, pull out this case, and immediately find what I need is cathartic.  I don’t have to stress about whether or not what I need is there.  Everything has a place, and if it isn’t there, I am quickly aware.  It doesn’t hurt this case matches my WLAN Pi!
